The renowned poet and mystic, most commonly known by his non de plume of Sebastian Scrawl, penned this little ditty after a particularly vivid dream with the full version running to some thirty-two verses. He died years later in the midst of a heavy session utilising both opium and absinthe. He fellow partiers testify that his last words were “I see the house…” However, they were, of course, all thoroughly wasted at the time.
lyrics
There's flamenco in the hallway,
They're dancing up the stairs.
Girls take the boys to bed,
In triplets and in pairs.
There's dice down in the kitchen,
Rolling one and six.
While the fiddler and the lover,
They perform their party tricks.
They're singing in the garden,
Laughing everywhere.
Trading kisses for a smile,
With flowers in their hair.
The dancer on the table,
Kicks her legs up high.
The cupid in the corner,
She can't look her in the eye.
You will all be thrilled.
Through the days and the nights.
You will be loved.
In Tallulah's House of Delights.
There's a banquet in the bedroom,
So many things to taste.
You be sure to take your fill,
Let nothing go to waste.
They're drowning in the cellar,
In a flood of booze.
Where they say your inhibitions,
Are the only things to lose.
There's a couple in the wardrobe,
It rattles and it shakes.
Oh, they'd best be careful,
Or those doors are going to break.
The prophets and the poets,
Are rolling on the floor.
And kissing under mistletoe,
Hanging from the door.
You will all be thrilled.
Through the days and the nights.
You will be loved.
In Tallulah's House of Delights.
The mistress of the house,
She said it's all a dream,
That nothing in her world,
Is ever what it seems.
Leave expectation at the door,
Let fantasy take flight.
Give yourself away,
In the House of Delights.
There's an angel in the bathtub,
With wings of gilded gold.
Showing off his halo,
To everyone who wants a hold.
The magician's on his way,
His girlfriend's running late.
He pulled her out from a top hat,
And took her on a date.
There's a gargoyle on the roof,
He can take you for a ride.
Fly you off to the coast,
To see the morning tide.
It's the house that never was,
The house you'll never leave.
Where anything is possible,
If only you'd believe.
You will all be thrilled.
Through the days and the nights.
You will be loved.
In Tallulah's House of Delights.
